Why
We Exist:
It is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ that his disciples
should preach the Gospel to the whole world (Mark 16:16;
Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). Our understanding is that
Christ has commanded Christians to unite in worship
(Hebrews 10:24-25), practice fellowship with one another,
and serve the needs of all people in Christian love
(Ephesians 4:7-16; Mark 10:42-44; John 13:35; Galatians
6:10). Jesus also commands his church to administer
the Office of the Keys (John 20:21-23; Matthew 8:5-20)
and to maintain decency and order (I Corinthians 14:40).
Therefore,
this congregation of Lutherans has established itself
to Proclaim Christ in Word and Deed. We
are committed to Christs mission in the world.
We worship joyfully, focusing on His Word and Sacraments.
Charities
and Missions
Approximately 14% of our yearly congregational budget
goes toward missions. Approximately 20%
of that amount goes to foreign aid almost equally divided
between ministries of word and charity. We are partners
with Canadian Lutheran
World Relief, which receives matching government
grants to support its relief and development projects.
Our congregation emphasizes missions. Several groups like
the Evangelism Board, Sunday school and the Lutheran
Women's Missionary League promote mission education.
They organize the congregation to support the local food
bank, women's shelters, the Lutheran Bible Translators,
the Nicaraguan literacy project, and other occasional
projects. We are also partners with LAMP www.lampministries.org
Lutheran Hour Ministries www.lll.ca
and LHM Mens Network www.lhmmen.com
Worship
And Music
Our worship style would be best characterized as liturgical
blended. We use classic hymns, contemporary choruses
and songs as well as gospel and popular North American
hymns. We use a variety of musical styles and instruments.
Important guiding principles for us are: that the form
of worship reflect the grace and forgiveness of God;
that the worship service is the cradle for the Word
of God; and that worship gives glory to God.
