Our
Denomination:

We are members of the Lutheran
Church-Canada.
Why We Exist:
It is the will of our
Lord Jesus Christ that his disciples should preach the Gospel to the whole
world (Mark 16:16; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). That Christ's
mission for His Church might be carried out according to His will, He has
commanded that Christians unite in worship (Hebrews 10:24-25), practice
fellowship with one another, and serve the needs of all people in Christian
love (Ephesians 4:7-16; Mark 10:42-44; John 13:35; Galatians 6:10). Since
Christians are also to administer the Office of the Keys as His Church
(John 20:21-23; Matthew 8:5-20) and to maintain decency and order (I
Corinthians 14:40) in the church, therefore we, a number of Lutheran
Christians have united together and joined together worshiping joyfully in
Word and Sacrament in our congregation known as Trinity Lutheran Church.
What Kind Of A Church Is A Lutheran Church?
There are many
Lutheran congregations all over the world, tied together in many
organizational ways. In fact, the Lutheran Church is the largest and oldest
Protestant church in the world. Did you know that there are about 61
million Lutherans in the world? Did you know that there are about 8 million
Lutherans in North America, but over 9 million in Africa? Trinity Lutheran
church is affiliated with Lutheran Church Canada. Our sister
church in the United States the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Why
do we tell you this? So that you can have confidence that our congregation
has a solid track record and is accountable to a larger body. We also want
you to know that you can have confidence in our teachings and practices
because they are in the public record and have stood the test of time.
Statement Of Purpose
Empowered by the Holy
Spirit, Trinity Lutheran Church offers the Grace of God for the people of
God. Trinity is a spiritual home nurturing Christian faith through
preaching and teaching the Word of God and administering Baptism and Holy
Communion. We welcome everyone searching for spiritual fulfillment, providing
opportunities for mutual prayer and encouragement, worship, fellowship, and
Christian service. As commanded by Jesus in the Great Commission, our
congregation actively reaches out to contribute to the spiritual,
emotional, and physical well-being of our community and the world.
Charities and Missions
Approximately 14% of
our yearly congregational budget goes toward helping other Christian
churches and organizations. Approximately 20% of that amount goes toward
foreign aid almost equally divided between ministries of word and charity.
We are partners with Canadian Lutheran World
Relief, which receives matching government grants to support its relief
and development projects. Larger Lutheran mission organizations offer any
interested member of our congregations
opportunities to serve as volunteers on one of our many missionary stations
around the world.
In addition, we have a
thorough mission education program coordinated by our Sunday school and the
Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
They organize the congregation to support the local food bank, women's
shelter, the Lutheran Bible Translators, the Nicaraguan literacy project,
and other occasional projects.
Times & dates for
all our parish activities and groups are listed in the Newsletter portion
of the Sunday Worship bulletins and you can always call the church office
for more information.
Worship And Music
Our worship would be
best characterized as blended using classic hymns, contemporary choruses
and songs as well as gospel and popular North American hymns. We use a
variety of musical styles and instruments. Important guiding principles for
us are: that the form of worship reflect the grace
and forgiveness of God; that the worship service is the cradle for the Word
of God; and that worship gives glory to God.
Music plays an
important part in the life of Trinity Lutheran Church. An important
objective for our Sunday school and Vacation Bible school programs is to
involve the children in Christian music and singing. We are pleased to have
Ms. Leslie Vermeulen as our Director of Music. She brings a wealth of
knowledge and experience to this position. She leads the worship team,
plans worship, organizes occasional choirs &
special music. She is always on the lookout for new singing and
instrumental talent. Leslie can be contacted through the church office.
