Council Update on COVID

Although our church office has remained open during this period of COVID restrictions, one question members and the community at large have is: “When will the church resume Sunday worship services, Bible studies and other functions at the church?”

Church Council met at the end of June to discuss this and other matters. Sunday worship services and other events will resume only when council feels it is safe and prudent to do so. As such, Council formed a “Reopening Committee” to determine conditions under which services could resume, along with measures and restrictions that will be required to meet the Provincial standards for safety and cleanliness. Stay tuned for the results of their work sometime this summer.

A summary of other Council discussions is shown below. For more detail, please read Kelly Meade’s complete letter to our members which is re-posted on the Member’s Corner page of our website.

  • Pastor has been communicating with members. He has also been available at the office for members and the community to call or visit with him directly.
  • Most activities at the church have been cancelled or postponed.
  • Our June Voters Meeting will be postponed until September or October, or when it is safe to reopen the Church.
  • Our current budget will remain in place until an opportunity to complete a new budget is available, presumably sometime in the fall.
  • Council members whose terms ‘officially’ have come to an end have agreed to continue serving on Council until a new slate of members can be nominated and elected in the fall.
  • A Nominating Committee has been formed to compile a slate of candidates to fill several vacancies on our Church Council.
  • Some building repairs, including the replacement of the valances and church steeple repairs, have been made.
  • Our janitors have maintained cleanliness and safety requirements during this COVID challenge.
  • Council members continue to maintain the on-going operations of our church.
  • The church’s website was redesigned and went live in April.
